The following software downloads are what I personally have installed on my computer as well as on the computers of other computer owners/users. The great thing about the programs below is that they are FREE, work just as well or better than programs that may cost you hundreds of dollars.
While there are many anti-virus and spyware programs available, it's good to do research about any BEFORE you install them, not after the fact.

Mozilla Firefox
is the newest, fastest, safest and best browser you can have to help you connect to the internet!
AVG Anti-Virus
is the one anti-virus I personally recommend for your computer. It has many features that will keep your computer protected, whether you're working on a document or surfing the internet.
The trial version is free but once you are ready to upgrade, the cost is low, but very well-worth it.
Caution: You do not need to have more than one anti-virus program on your computer!.
Malwarebytes
is a reliable program that can find and remove malware that may show up on your computer. What is malware? Malware is actually malicious software that can be installed on your computer without your permission. Malware can be contracted by extensive internet use, pop-ups, banner ads, etc. A computer virus can also be a form malware.
Having one anti-virus program and one malwarebyte-removal program installed on your computer and using them to scan your computer on a regular basis will keep your computer protected.
C-Cleaner
is a program that helps free up the resources that make your computer run. Some resources can be the space on your hard drive, the speed of your computer or how much memory is being used.
This program also cleans out the registry of your computer, if you recall, is the blueprint of your computer.
CCleaner is a program that is good to have on your computer and depending on how much you use your computer, you can decide how often you need to run it. You can see in detail what the program cleans. It's also a good idea to bookmark this site on your computer's browser as new updates are made available to download.
